Originally from Mississippi, Dr. Causey proudly says, “I got to Texas as fast as I could!” A 1997 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, she purchased her own practice in El Paso, Texas just a year and a half after graduation and spent the next 22 years building deep, lasting relationships with clients and their pets. In 2020, she sold the practice and moved to Austin to be closer to family.

Dr. Causey is passionate about internal medicine, behavior, and soft tissue surgery. She is Fear Free Certified and was practicing fear-free principles long before they became mainstream. Her approach to veterinary medicine is rooted in what she calls the “trifecta of compassionate care”—a philosophy that considers the well-being of the pet, the family, and the veterinary team as interconnected and essential to achieving the best outcomes.

Throughout her career, Dr. Causey has guided families through multiple generations of pets and has personally tamed and rehomed countless feral kittens. She finds joy in truly getting to know her clients and their animals, forming heartfelt connections that go beyond the exam room.

Outside of work, Dr. Causey enjoys hiking (including the Inca Trail in Peru), kayaking, and exploring state parks in her motorhome. She shares her home with two dogs—Phoenix the Standard Poodle and Snow the LabraLabraDoodle—and two cats, Leo Cabrito Gato and BoGato. An avid traveler, she has explored India, Africa, and Cuba, always seeking new adventures and meaningful experiences.
