Dr. Vanessa Yu

Dr. Yu grew up in Hong Kong before moving to Canada to attend the University of Toronto for her undergraduate studies. She later earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Sydney and remained in Australia for four years, practicing veterinary medicine in Sydney before relocating to Texas.

Her passion for veterinary medicine began at a young age. As an only child, Dr. Yu grew up alongside three beloved dogs who felt more like siblings than pets. This deep connection with animals inspired her career path, and while completing her undergraduate degree, she volunteered as a veterinary assistant on weekends. That experience solidified her desire to become a veterinarian and dedicate her life to caring for animals.

At home, Dr. Yu is kept entertained by Frankie, her 9-year-old rescue Pug who made the move from Australia with her. Frankie is full of personality and firmly believes that toys are only worth playing with if treats are involved. Whether she's napping, searching for her next snack, or enthusiastically woofing at every dog she passes, Frankie keeps life interesting.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Yu enjoys running by the lake, exploring new restaurants, and cooking at home. A self-proclaimed food enthusiast, she admits her life often revolves around her next meal, much like Frankie's. She also loves spending time with a good book and is always looking for her next great read.
