Emily
Why Emily chose the veterinary industry: "I grew up in Dallas and came down to Austin to go to UT and study philosophy. In my first semester, I got a job at a doggy boarding/daycare facility where I helped care for anywhere between 10 - 100 dogs at a time. There, I developed a passion for creating a safe, supportive, and trusting environment for the dogs at their home away from home. In 2021, I took a chance and inquired about an entry-level position at a private veterinary practice and started my vet tech career. I never intended to jump into any medical field but soon found that I had a knack and a strong stomach for it. My passion beyond caring for animals, is also educating their parents so that they feel empowered in taking charge of their pets' needs. I've always had animals around and been drawn to them and I can't imagine a career or a life without them."
About Emily's pets: Emily currently has two pups, Agnes and Java, three cats, Mooch, Gandalf, and Ulysses, and her newest member, a sweet little leopard tortoise named Lottie. While Gandalf and Ulysses are more reserved, Mooch loves to trail after his big doggy sisters and participate in snuggle time, snack time, and zoomie time with them.
