Kellen

"I went to school at San Angelo St. University for my animal science degree where I learned a lot about myself. I was unsure what to do with my degree, so I changed paths. I went to EMT school and saw how much I loved that, but something was still missing in my daily life. One night, my childhood dog had a veterinary emergency of his own; that's when it clicked that my two passions for animals and emergency/critical care could come together. I started as a kennel tech and worked my way up. 10 years later, I have found the clinic where I belong, and I also work at a veterinary emergency room in my spare time. It was not easy, but it has been so fun and rewarding. Treat each pet as if it were my own. My favorite on-the-job tasks are emergency care, placing IV catheters, personal education/growth, and client education. I am currently back in school to finish my veterinary technician degree to be a better technician for you and your pets."

Kellen has two Border Collies (Maya and Miss Lady) and two Guinea Pigs (Samoa and Oreo) whom she loves tremendously. Miss Lady could play fetch for hours even though she is 13! Maya is eight years old and is Kellen's neediest baby. She's had several orthopedic surgeries and needs two more. Despite this fact, Maya still gets zoomies and loves her walks. The Guinea Pigs came as a pregnant mom who was surrendered. Oreo had four babies, and Kellen kept one baby, Samoa. caring for them has been a learning curve for Kellen, but she enjoys watching them grow into their personalities.
